Assign: When a path to a directory or file is given an additional (shortened) name.
Assigns are used to give logical devices used by the operating system, such as C: where AmigaDOS stores command files, or S: where scripts are stored.
Assigns can be very useful for creating shortcuts to frequently used folders that may be hidden deep in the file system
Tip: In file requesters assigns are shown in blue below your Volumes.
